All of us and the F-14D

Today, June 17th, we made an interesting trip to the Aviation Museum, but first in the morning, we went to Polk State College to take our English lesson. At 12:30 we left PSC and we went to have lunch at Golden Corral, a buffet restaurant where we could ate everything we wanted to.

Afterwards, we went to the Aviation Museum, where a guide showed us a lot of different planes. Some of them were really old and other ones were practically new. Our guide told us that every single plane there was prepared to fly. We also saw a collection of almost all Howard Hughes' personal belongings (for those who don’t know who Howard Hughes was, he was represented and played by Leonardo Di Caprio in a movie, “The Aviator”). We also could see the amazing F14D, an American Air Force plane, or better said, an American fighter plane. The guide told us that its mission wasn’t to fight in an air battle, but to keep Peace in a war. Everything we learned today was very interesting. We loved our trip to the Sun n'Fun Museum.

Mexican Restaurant

Today, Monday 16th of July, we have had to wake up quite early because of the English class, in which we read a chapter of "The Hunger Games", and later we used the computers to search for an interesting new. Then, we had dinner at "Los Olivos", the Mexican restaurant from Asbel's family; and as we had planned, we went to the swimming pool. Unfortunately it started to rain and we had to leave the pool due to an electric storm. We had only 20 minutes approximately to be there, so then we still had 2 hours left. We went to the Polk State College (where we do the classes) and some of us played ping-pong, while others played video games.
As every day, we left at 17:30 and waited the families to pick us.

Playing soccer

All together
Today, Friday 13th of July 2012, we had three hours of English class in the morning, in which we read our English reading book named "The Hunger Games". Then, we went to the "Kentucky Fried chicken" to have meal. Afterwards, we had over twenty-five minutes to go the supermarket (shopping).

Then, we went to the Polk State College to play some soccer in the gym for about two hours or even a bit more, and we got very tired. After that, we had to leave to our homes. Finally our families picked up in the College at six o'clock and then I got home at about quarter past six.

We started today as a normal day! We did class at 9 reading our journals, going on with "The Hunger Games" and discussing differences between USA and Spain (eg: greetings and surnames). We had lunch there, in Polk State College and afterwards we went to the swimming pool, which is near from the university. We spent until 5 o'clock there: swimming, diving of high diving boards and playing volleyball. It has been fantastic doing some sport finally!

The Hunger Games

The Hunger Games is a young adult novel by American television writer and novelist Suzanne Collins. It was first published on September 14, 2008 featuring a cover designed by Tim O'Brien. It is written in the voice of 16-year-old Katniss Everdeen, who lives in the post-apocalyptic nation of Panem, where the countries of North America once existed.

Shooping !!!

Yesterday was the third day of classes. We read the second and third chapter of The Hunger Games during the first hour. After reading the chapters we discussed them. Also we did some written work. At 12:30 pm we went out to have lunch at Cici's Pizza.
After lunch we went  to the outlet mall in Orlando. It was an exciting afternoon and all of us had a really good time.

Day of Bowling II

Today was the second day of classes, we read the first chapter of The Huger Games together and it seems that’s going to be an interesting book. Then we also practiced small talk, the teachers gave us some situations with their own dialogs, so it was like a role play.
After classes we went to McDonalds, and we had lunch there. Then we headed out to the bowling. It was crowded and after a confusion we had to move from where we were playing a few times. While we were playing, there was having place a bowling league competition and it was amazing because they had their own equipment and their shots were cool. After that we went to the college to play ping pong and with the Play Station because we still had some time left.

Our first day at Polk State College

Today was the first day that we went to Polk State College in Winter Haven so the classes have begun. First the two teachers have been submitted and they have explained how they were going to run the classes. We have made an essay about  yourself.

After that, a boy at school has made us a tour for the campus and he has shown us the different kind of departments in the college. We have just seen the gym where we could play dodgeball. Then we returned to class to continue the class until 12:30. When we have finished, we have gone to eat at Subway.

Finally we went to see a movie called The Amazing Spiderman and have returned home with our host families to finish the day.
