Yesterday we arrived in New York. The trip went very well, we still tired. Our hotel is called Sohohotel and is located on Broome Street. In the afternoon we visited Ground Zero and Wall Street. We also had time to go into shops to buy somesouvenirs.

Today we will be a long day but certainly very nice. We will know more about the Big Apple.

This has been an amazing month in USA. We have had a lot of fun with our host families and friends. We have been to very nice theme parks. We also did a lot of shopping and we met new people. Also classes with Martha and Abbey have been very helpful. We are very exited to go to New York. All in all, we have spent a great month in Florida.

Last Sunday we had a party at Ander's host family house. We went to the swimming pool, we played volleyball, we played badmingtong and we drove the golf car! Well, the boys drove the golf car but Susan and Bill Steeler let the leaders try their Chevrolet Corvette!!!
I the party there were hot dogs, delicious spicy wings, drinks and a lot of american food. We had a great time at this party.

Today at school we saw a really funny movie but we didn't go to the computer's room. Then, we had some lunch at the College and waited in the games room to go to the pool because it was very sunny and the last day that we went, a lot of people were burned. So when we arrived to the Winter Haven's pool we put some suncream and we went quickly to diving off the trampoline, after that, we went to play some volleyball too.
So it was a great day.

Yesterday, we continue with the classes in the morning. Then we went to eat to Golden Corral in Lakeland. In the afternoon we went to the airplanes museum Sun’n Fun. There were very funny airplanes and it was a good visit.

The museum had racing planes, aircraft, engines, fighter jets and more. We also saw the wing structure of a plane and some wooden models. Our guide, Joyce, told us many stories and showed us a map given to Howard Hughes (The Aviator) by Katherine Hepburn for his accomplishment of his around the world flight. ThThen we leave the building to head to another where there was some warplanes struck us. The best airplanes for me were these airplanes.

Today, we all had fun, and did lots of interesting things.

In the very begining of the day, my host family took me to the College. During the lessons we played word-games, and, after the break we played some games of English on the computers.
Afterwards, we went to the game room to play Kinect, Xbox, playstation and tennis table.

We had lunch at Pizza Hut while we were there, we met a priest, Father Charles. After all this, we went back to the College, to the Health Center (Gym), to play basketball, I didn't play but my brother did it. Instead I talked to Mónica. At the end we all went back to our host families.

Yesterday we had a pool party at Mr Hewett's house. The party started at 4 o'clock. There were lots of things in that house such as: table tennis, billiards, basketball and more things. The first thing we did was play table tennis, billiards and shoot some basketballs. Later when we were sweating we went to the swimming pool to have a bath. At 5 o'clock we started eating all kind of food but specially pizza made by Max (Mr Hewett's son). After all this it came the best part going with the jetsky with Max on the lake. Later we took a boat because Oscar wanted to do wakeboard, he did it quite well. At around 8 o'clock we went to our "respective" houses because next day we had to wake up early to come to College.

On Thursday, we started our classes at 9 o'clock. During the classes we watched a movie, the movie was about a girl that loved to play soccer, had a soccer team only for girls, but then the boy's team don't let her play soccer so she dressed up like a boy to beat the team that didn't let her play.
The classes finished at 12:30 so aafter that we went to have lunch to the college cafeteria. Then we went to the swimming pool, we spend three hours there and we had a great time. The weather was nice but it was too hot, We got to the college at 5:00 o'clock were our host-families picked us up.

Today, 13th we've had class, like every day and after them we went ice-skating to Lakeland Center , wich was great! I've had lots of fun because, at first Iwas almost falling down but I haven't, also, about 15 minutes after I saw Miquel with some problems for skating, so I decided to help him and it was really funny! He was really scared at first, but some minutes later he started to get more self-confident so finally he skated alone and finally we had a lot of fun, so it was great. I loved this day.

Yesterday we had English classes as usually in which we played different sorts of games. Besides, we went to the computer lab. Later we went to the Cici's pizza and had lunch. We stayed there for a while until 2:30 p.m when we went back to the college.

When we got to college, we went to the gym. It's a very nice gym. After everybody had changed clothes, we started a basketball match. We were playing around a couple of hours. The basketball court is great and we enjoyed it. When we finished we did some stretching exercises. A time out was raining hard, so that we were leaving home with our host families.

Starting a new week

It is more than a week since we arrived. Yesterday Monday we started the English lesson at 9 o'clock, like every day. Our teachers are Martha and Abby. At half past twelve, after classes had finished, we had lunch at Polk State College and then we drove to the outlets in Orlando where we bought some clothes. At 5 o'clock we returned to the college in Winter Haven. We really enjoyed the day.

Today we took our first trip. We went to Disney World where we´ve visited two parks: Epcot and Magic Kingdom. It was quite good but there weren't any fast rides.

Today we had a very rainy day. In class we saw a movie. We ate in a mexican restaurant after that we were suposed to go swimming, but beacuse after rain we had to spend the afternoon at Polk State College playing billiard, playing ping pong and playing videogames bacause it was raining.

Mr Poppers and Penguins

Yesterday on wednesday we went to the cinema to see Mr Poppers and Penguins. It wasn't a very nice film but it was funny. The film was a comedy but it had a good ending because the plot of the film talked about the importance of love in a family. Sometimes, strange things like to have penguins in a New York's appartment, could make your dreams come true.

Today we had no school because they celebrated the Independence Day Anniversary. It's a day to spend with our host families. At night we saw fireworks after watching America’s Cup Football match. I went for barbecue to Rafa’s house and when I returned home I spend the rest of the day playing games and watching films. I had a great time and a full activities day.

Pool's Party (Saturday 24th)

In our last weekend, the students of USA went to Alex's host family house for being all together and having a great time. We did lots of activities, like: swimming, play freesbie, fly in a plane...

At lunch, we ate american food and spanish food. The host families did american food (meat balls, cookies, brownies, spaguettis...) and Manu cooked Paella for everybody.

I was so excited because when I went to the plane, I rode about few minutes. Finally, we spent the time in the swimming pool because it was a very hot day.

Island of adventures (Friday 23th)

Today was a great day!!!!

We went to Universal Studios (Island of adventures), we enjoyed a lot because we rode in different rides, roller coasters and more things.

Firstly, we went to fall ride (it was very funny), but I prefer saying the water falls, that was awesome!!!

Secondly, we went to Jurassic Park and we saw dinosaurs and the jungle.

Later, we went to Harry Potter's World, it's amazing. You are in the movie, it's great. There are two rides very well done and funny. We repeated every times.

In the afternoon we were very tired but we enjoyed a lot.

It was one of the best days!!!!

Today, today...

Today wasn't a amazing day...

I got up, went to school, you know all that everyday.

But... WAIT!!! We went to a restaurant (Applebee's) for having lunch. Yes, it was good!!! Everybody enjoyed their food.

Later, we went to swimming pool and were there about 3 hours. It was the best thing of the day (in my opinion) We met two boys (12 years old) and they explained us some good things about their live. It was funny!!! We enjoyed it.

Start the time over for going back home.

Good morning!!!!

At the start of our day, we went to class in Polk State College. There, we did grammar and played a game called "Quiz". After that, we went to student's center for eating lunch.

In the afternoon, we did our rutine activity (swimming pool) There we had a lot of fun playing a volleyball match (my team won!!!)

We finished returning to their respectives families. I went with Manuel at my house for swimming in my pool. Later, we went to play bowling with Rocio's family. It was very fun!!!!

We only have 9 days left in Florida.

Shopping (Monday 19th)

Today was a different day. Four of us weren't here because they were doing different things with their host families.

We didn't do class at all. We did a scavenger hunt in the college and then we finished our powerpoints about Spain.

For some of us, today was a very important day because we were going to know if we were accepted at the university in Spain.

After having lunch, we went to Orlando to go shopping. It was very hot, I think we reached 100 degrees Farenheit, so it was very hard to walk without air conditioning but after all it was a great day.

Beach's day (Sunday 18th)

On Sunday, we were in the Polk State College's parking at 8 am. We went to Daytona Beach and we spent the time the morning swimming and playing with the water.

About 12:30 pm, we went to eat lunch to "Wendy's" (is very similar to Mc Donald's, but is better than this one). After lunch, we went a Carnival and Manu went on the "Sling shot attraction".

Finally, we spent three more hours in the beach and we ate dinner in Pizza's Hut.

It was a perfect day!!!

Universal Studios (Friday 16th)

On Friday 16th of July, the students of USA went to a theme park called Universal Studios. The day was hot and there wasn't clouds in the sky when the group got in the park. At the beginning, they saw a high ramp of a roller coaster called "Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit", but the ride wasn't ready yet so they went to a Jimmy Neutron's simulator. When the atraction was over, the group went to another simulator about Shrek, that one was better than the first one.

In all the rides, the queve time was being from 20 to 35 minutes.

Later, they went to twister, a simulator about tornados based on the movie with the same name. After that, they rode in the "Mummy's ride", and finally, they could ride the big roller coaster.

In the afternoon, they spent the time in "Terminator 2" in 3D and they rode in "Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit" again before they left the park.

It was a great day!!!

On thursday in the morning we had english classes till 12:30 pm. At 12:30 pm we went to Kentucky Fried Chicken to have lunch; after that, we went to the ice skating rink and we spent two hours there, we had a very good time.

At five o'clock we arrived to the university and our host families came to pick us up.

We've been here for ten days and I can't believe that we've only two weeks left. It must be said that classes are... well, that's it, classes; but every afternoon we do some activity. Some of them are more entertaining than others, but nobody can say that he/ she is not enjoying it (swimming, cinema, theme parks... are some of the places we go to)

Among the families, we found all the variety that could be expected, and we all feel comfortable with life at home. Of course, there are luckiers one, who spend days of class going to the beach or to theme parks.

All the spanish mates are knowing each others and we get on very well.

Queridas familias y amigos:

Somos Padre Nicolas y Manuel (los coordinadores de Florida) os escribimos para comunicaros que estamos todos muy bien y deciros que la primera semana ha sido genial y de adaptacion.

Los chicos y chicas nos han comentado que estan muy bien con sus familias americanas y todos estan asisitiendo a las clases en Polk State College con interes.

Os comentamos tambien que hemos realiado diversas actividades (bolera, piscina, cine, arte, deporte) y sobre todo, hemos visitado uno de los parques de Disney (Epcot Center), un parque educativo sobre la historia del mundo y de los dinosaurios.

No puede faltar que destaquemos que hemos conseguido ver nuestra seleccion de futbol todos juntos, tanto la semifinal contra Alemania y, por supuesto, la final contra Holanda. Estuvimos todos contentos aunque sufrimos hasta el ultimo minuto. Para celebrarlo, algunos chicos fueron a patinar sobre hielo.

A continuacion, podeis ver algunas fotos de los primeros dias y en adelante los chicos y chicas os iran escribiendo sus impresiones y vivencias en el blog.

Sin nada mas que comentar, disfrutaremos del resto de nuestra estancia en Florida.

Our summer program has come to the end very fast. It is the time to say our goodbyes to our families and friends in Casselberry. We will never forget the friendship of the American families, the patience of the Teachers and the support of Saint Augustine's Parish Staff. In this month we have experienced the American way of life (language, food, cultural and recreational activities) and the spiritual values of this country. On our way back to Spain we take with us plenty of memories to share and enjoy.

Wait a second! We still have New York, the Big Apple, the City unique. Tomorrow, Sunday, we fly to New York where we hope to discover plenty of surprises that will make this trip very special.

We close this blog. We really hope it has been a window for all of you, families and friends, to keep track with our everyday activities. If we can, we'll include some pictures from New York!

Islands of Adventure

Today Friday 25th, we had to be at 8 30 at the church to go to Islands of Adventure, a theme park based on universal studios films. We have had a great time there because the park is very good. There are a lot of good rides such as the Hulk or the Dueling Dragons. We have been in the Park from 9am to 6pm. The good thing about today is that it didn't rain as all the other days, so we were able to ride the different rides all day long. It started to rain when we driving back to our houses. At half past seven the American families were waiting for us and we went home.

We are Diego and Alvaro and we're going to explain what we've done today:
In the morning we have been to class but with some differences: First of all, we have worked with some idioms, then, Father Neumann has made a speech in the break time. And finally we have taken a lot of pictures with all the students, but we had to make a lot of pictures of Anna and Carla because they didn't like any of the pictures that we have made.
Later we have visited the 911 information center, where the people call when they need help, but the visit has been very short.
In the afternoon, we have been to some outlet stores. There were some stores like adidas, nike, levi's, ecko,… When we arrived there, the people were hungry, so we all went to have lunch. After lunch we went to buy clothes, but we didn't spend too much money because the prices were so low.
At 5:30 we came back to the church because the families were waiting for us there to go home.

Hello!! I'm Danel and I going to explain what we have done today.
We've had class in the morning as usual. We were in class untill 12:30. Then we went to eat to Cici's Pizza, so logically we ate pizza and some pasta.
When we finished eating, we went to the ice skating and we had a great time there taking photos, skating and speaking a lot. But some people are all thumbs so they were falling all the time. When we getting were ready to return it stared to rain quite a lot and what it is worse: it started lightning and thundering so we had to wait for a while. But finally we returned and all of us went to our house to be with the familles.
With all these, the day finished.

Hellow , my name is Ricard and today I'm going to write a few words .

Today classes began at 9:00 . We worked with "Idioms" and later the word of the day .
After the snack , we worked on a commercial that we are preparing for this Saturday because all the groups are going to present their own advertisement to the rest of the people.

When the lessons finished , we went to Oviedo Mall , it was pretty good.
Finally all the group returned to the parking lot at 5:30 where the families were waiting for us.

And this is one day in this month in America.

Hi I'm Nadine and I'm going to explain what we have done today:

Today, after morning classes, we went to a park called Kelly Park, Rock Springs. The park is very big and it is in the middle of a forest. There are two different areas in the park: in the first one there is a big lake where you can swim. The water comes from a spring so it is very cold. In the other section of the park there is a river that you can follow either by walking on one of the trails or by swimming from the top of the river to the lake. Some poeple like riding down the stream in an inner tube or on a float.

Hi I'm Elena.
Today we did different things everyone with their family. Some of them went to Alex and Guille's party.

I went with Claudia and Danel to Sarasota beach with Danel's family. We have slept at a motel because we went out on Saturday morning to different beaches.The water at the first two beaches was very hot but in the last one it was a bit colder.
Today we went to the beach more or less at ten o'clock it was very hot, the water was clean and was very comfortable to be there.
Then, when we were coming back to Casselberry, we stopped in a bridge to see many different kinds of boats. We had a great time this weekend!

Hi!! Today we had to be at 9 o'clock in the church because we have gone to Wet'n Wild, a water park with big slides and pool with waves.
We arrived and there weren't a lot of people so we went to a pool, then we went to differents slides, there was one called disco H2O that it had music and lights inside. There were slides for one person but also slides for 3 or more persons. It was so great!!
But about 3 it started to rain and everybody had to go out of the water, we had to go under umbrellas. while it was raining we were talking and laughing. When the rain stopped we went to walk arround the park to see the differents places and slides to go.
After that we went to a pool with floats because there were big waves! It was so funny!!
At 6 o'clock we left the Park and we returned to the church, the families were waiting for us.

Today has been a day to remmember!

Police Station

Hi, today we had class as everyday. Then at 10:15 we have visited the police station. We enjoyed it a lot, because the policewoman was very nice with us. She showed us the jails, how they get the fingerprints and the photos of the criminals and she has explained to us too, what we have to do in case of being attacked...

Later at 12:30, we have gone to Milenium mall, where we had lunch.
It's a Big and beautiful mall, in Orlando. We like it, because it has a lot of shops, the brands that we used to wear in Spain. We enjoyed too the Apple store because we could use the internet there.

Then at 4:15 we left from milenium's mall. In the van, we were taking funny photos, with Diego, Alvaro, Danel, Gabi, Carla, Elena y Laura.

Today we had a great time as everyday.

Hi, I'm Gonzalo. I'm going to write about our activities today. In the morning we've had classes. We've worked prepositions. We also received our grades for the first part of the Summer Program. We had all kinds of pizza for lunch. Later we went to the Casselberry Fire Department. We visited the place and they showed us the fire trucks and the medical equipment. It was very interesting! Afterwards we went bowling: we are getting better and better every day!

Today, we had class in the morning, like every day. We did different activities and we played some games.
I think that playing games and having a good time is more fun than listening to a teacher talking during the class.
Then, we were supposed to go to the pool but because of the weather we had to change the activity and we went to see a movie: Meet Dave. It was so funny!
After the movie, because we had time, we went shopping. I bought postcards to send to my friends and my family. Finally, at 5:30 pm we returned to the church and it was still raining.

It was a wet day! :)

Today, after the weekend, many of the students had experienced sunburn because of having gone to the beach last weekend. This morning in class we finished the film, and we did activities about it. It was a heart-warming film about a spoiled young man who becomes kind and generous.
We have had lunch and spent the rest of the afternoon in Festival Bay Mall, in Orlando. This mall is very big and it must be very new as lots of the locals in it are not occupied. It is an interesting mall, but most of us didn't like some of the shops in it (as, for example, Western Sheplers), because what they have in there is something we are not used to. But some other shops, such as Ron Jovi or a shop for skaters, were interesting to look at.

Sunday, July 13th

Like every Sunday we went to the church, after an hour and a half of praying and singing there, the students went to different places. Some of them went to the beach and burnt their skin and they couldn`t almost swim. Other of us stayed at home seeing movies. Luckily I was in the group of us who saw two movies. At least we talked a lot of English and learned a lot of new words. On Sunday I had dinner and what I had for dinner was three hot dogs, a big plate of macaroni and cheese and water ( drinking water is very unusual here, Americans are always drinking soda) but they are nice people.

Universal Studios

July, Friday 11th, was a special day!
We didn't have classes because we went to Universal Studios, so we left St Augustin's church at 8:30 am and we arrived there at 9:30am.
It was so big and there were many attractions. Some of them were funny, but the others were boring. First we visitied "Twister". It was a simulation of a storm, a big tornado with wind, rain and lighthnings. After that, we visited "Disaster" where "Gonzalo" participated in the show. He was an actor. There they showed us the way science fiction movies are made and then it was also a simulation of an earthquake with a train being in the disaster. We visited "The Simpsons" attraction too.
Later we had lunch. We bought a "hot dog" or something similar and some drinks. Then we rested for a few minutes and went to visited the "Mummy" ride. We also saw a group of boys dancing "breakdance", they were amazing!!
At 4:00 pm it started to rain and we protected against the rain inside a shop. At 6:30 we returned to St Augustin 's church and we waited for the families to return home.

Hello, I'm Claudia and I'm going to talk about Saturday the 11th of July.
The students spent their time with the American families. Some students went to Seaworld, to the beach...

Today I went to Daytona beach. This is the most important beach in the United States.
I went with Mrs Berman and her daughter Gina, Laura's ''family''.
In the morning we left about ten o'clock. When we arrived we walked along the shore. Then we swam and finally we had lunch.
Then, we went to see shops and finally we returned to our home.

I think that all the students here are having a great time with their families and their friends.

Wekiwa Springs State Park

Hello ! my name is Belen and I'm going to speak about today.
We have visited Wekiwa Springs State Park, with a spring lake, and in that river there are many
wild animals and insects. We swam in the lake, and the water was
very, very cold, but we had a lot of fun. Before, we went to "pasear"
around the big forest. Some of us went by canoa to see the
alligators and big fishes. Edu lost his new camera, because
he fell from the canoe" with Diego and Gabriel. We had to go back to Casselberry around 4:45 pm,
but at this time, we were swiming and we arrived too late. Fr. Nicolas
and Father Taulats agreed we had to be on time because the families were waiting for us.
Today we had a great time in the lake!

Thursday, July 10th

Wednesday has been a great day. We learned some American idioms. We saw a movie which taught us how to be a better person and how to have a good friendship with the others. Then, we searched some sentences in the Bible and spoke about that. We also made some sheets about the Post Office we visited yesterday.
After that we played a memory game.
When we finished classes, we went to the Golden Corral for lunch to eat some amazing food!!

After having lunch, we went bowling and we had some beautiful plays.
All of you can see us before taking our American vans.

Later, at 7 pm, we met in Wirz park to play a funny baseball game, that was incredible!! P. Nicolas and P. Taulats were with us in the beginning of the match and saw how we played baseball.
We also laughed a lot with a girl which played with us. Tomorrow we are gonna visit Wekiva Park, where we'll see some alligators and other wild animals and insects.

During the morning in St Agustine's we had our English lessons with Mrs Kathy, Mrs Marion and Father Neumann. We did an interesting activity in which we had to write a short story based on a comic that the teachers gave to us. After that we had a good chance to visit the Central Post Office of Orlando. We had a great time there, they explained a lot of stuff about how the American mail works. We also had a chance to ask questions, the answers will be material for classwork because were are supposed to do something with that. So once out of the post office it suddenly started to rain so we couldn't go the pool as it was planned. Instead of that we had lunch at Altamonte Mall and we stayed there until five. We enjoyed the mall very much but the families were waiting for us at the church, so we joined them and said bye to our mates.

Despues del largo fin de semana marcado por la festividad nacional del 4 de julio los alumnos han iniciado las actividades programadas. El lunes, al finalizar las clases, los alumnos fueron a Altamonte Springs Mall, donde, despues de la comida, vieron una sesion de cine. Hoy, martes, visitaran el Central Post Office de Orlando y seguidamente se dirigiran a la piscina. Desde hoy se ha incorporado al programa el P. Jose M. Taulats. Bienvenido!
